The Maine Healthy Weight Awareness Campaign (HWAC) was a social marketing initiative that provided Maine parents with information and simple steps to keep their children and families healthy and active. It was a collaborative effort between the Maine CDC and the Maine Nutrition Network from 2002 to 2012, and in 2008 was awarded the "Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future" Champion Award, by the acting Surgeon General, Steven K. Galson, M.D., M.P.H.
